Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Senior Logistics Accountant (Cost Controlling and Operations) to join our team, responsible for cost controlling and operations management in our logistics department. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, logistics, and operations management, with expertise in cost analysis, budgeting, and financial reporting. The role holder will be responsible for ensuring that reports on costs, productivity, margins and company expenditures are accurate. Senior Logistics Accountant will be reporting to the Head of Logistics. The position is also open to expatriates.
Duties & Responsibilities
Financial Management & Reporting
Manage and analyze logistics costs, including transportation, warehousing, and handling costsDevelop and implement cost-saving initiatives to optimize logistics operationsCreate and manage budgets, forecasts, and financial reports for logistics operationsEnsure accurate and timely financial reporting, including variance analysis and trend identificationCollaborate with finance team to ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulationsProduce error-free accounting reports and present their resultsAnalyze financial information and summarize financial status
Cost ControlDevelop and implement cost control measures to ensure logistics operations are within budgetAnalyze and negotiate contracts with transportation providers, warehouses, and other logistics vendorsManage and optimize freight costs, including auditing and payment of freight billsIdentify and implement opportunities for cost savings and process improvements
Operational AnalysisAnalyze logistics data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and areas for improvementDevelop and implement process improvements to increase productivity and reduce costsConduct operational audits to ensure compliance with company policies and proceduresCollaborate with operations team to optimize logistics processes and improve efficiency
Compliance & Risk ManagementEnsure compliance with accounting standards, regulations, and company policiesIdentify and mitigate risks related to logistics operations and financial managementCollaborate with internal audit team to ensure compliance with company policies and proceduresEnsure all documents are well stored/filled as per company policy
Systems & TechnologyManage and optimize logistics software and systems, including Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and Warehouse Management Systems (WMS)Collaborate with IT team to ensure integration and compatibility of logistics systemsIdentify and implement opportunities for technology improvements to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
Leadership & CommunicationProvide financial guidance and support to logistics management teamCollaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations, sales, and customer serviceCommunicate financial and operational performance to senior management and stakeholdersLead and mentor junior team members, as needed
Decision SupportIdentify challenges and propose proactive solutions for the Head of Logistics or Senior Management or the CEO to make decisionAnticipating potential issues and implementing preventive measures by providing relevant information and support to the Head of Logistics or Senior Management or the CEO to make decision.Collaborating with other team members to overcome obstacles and any change that a company will be facing
Other AreasSupervise accountants in verifying, allocating, posting and reconciling accounts payables and receivables, Fleet and mechanic team in inventory (Spare parts) and cost managementSpot errors and suggest ways to improve efficiency and spendingReview and recommend modifications to accounting systems and proceduresParticipate in financial standards setting and in forecast processParticipate in preparation of financial statements and produce budget according to scheduleSupport month-end and year-end close processDevelop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controlsPerforming other duties as assigned.
Educational & Experience Requirements
Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, Logistics, or related field. Certification in logistics, accounting, or related field (eg., CMA, CPA, CFA) will be added advantageAt least 5 years of experience in accounting, cost controlling, and operations management. Experience working with logistics company is an added advantageStrong knowledge of general accounting principles, logistics operations, and transportation managementAn excellent written and oral command in EnglishKnowledge of regulatory standards and compliance requirementProficient in using productivity tools such as G-Suite (Google Docs, Calendar, Sheets, Slides etc), Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), Zoom, Online Conferencing systems etc.
