BUSH MONKEY TREKS AND SAFARIS - Kilimanjaro Hiking - Moshi, Tanzania

You will be picked up in the morning at your hotel in Moshi and taken to the Kilimanjaro National Park Gate (Marangu Gate, 1860m) for 1 hour. Once the gate registration has been completed, your trek can begin, you will be hiking through the rainforest Alongside the impressive vegetation, you will have the chance to catch a glimpse of black and white colobus monkeys, blue monkeys and various bird species. Guide will inform you about Kilimanjaro and will explain the different species of plants and animals you will see. After a 3-4 hour hike, you will reach Mandara Hut (2700m), where you will have a well-earned rest and lunch. Your guide will then take you on a short hike (15 minutes walking distance) to the Maundi Crater, where you can enjoy wonderful views of Mount Kilimanjaro, Northern Tanzania and Kenya. Once you have enjoyed the views, you will return to the Marangu Gate (2-3 hours walking distance), where your vehicle will be waiting for your transfer back to your hotel at Moshi.

Day 1: Arusha – Lake Manyara (or Tarangire National Park)
Leave Arusha in the morning with a lunch box and drive to Lake Manyara National Park one and a half hours away. We will check in at the Jambo Campsite and offload the camping gear then head straight to the park for game drives all day. Late afternoon we return to the campsite for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Lake Manyara – Serengeti National Park
Early morning breakfast then drive to Serengeti National park crossing the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. You will be doing game drives on the way and after entering Serengeti via Naabi Hill gate you will continue with game drives the whole day. Lunch box will be served on this day as well. Later in the afternoon you will settle at the Seronera Campsite for freshly prepared dinner and then stay overnight at the Campsite.

Day 3: Ngorongoro Conservation Area
After breakfast at the Campsite you will spend the morning at Serengeti National park all morning and in the afternoon after lunch at a picnic site, we drive back via Naabi hill Gate to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area to stay overnight at Simba Campsite at the Crater rim.

Day 4: Ngorongoro Crater – Arusha Town.
Very early breakfast at Simba campsite then we descend early to the Ngorongoro Crater’s floor for some 6 hours of Game drives in the Crater floor. After lunch at the Hippo poolside picnic site we ascend up the Crater rim and drive back to Arusha town where the safari ends in the late afternoon.

DAY 1: ARUSHA/MOSHI - MARANGU GATE - MANDARA
After breakfast our driver will pick you up then drive you to the office where you receive a briefing and gear check. Then the drive to the Kilimanjaro National Park Gate (45 minutes from Moshi and 2.45Hrs from Arusha). Here you will register and commence with the climb.Altitude: 1,700 m to 2,740 m

DAY 2: MANDARA HUT TO HOROMBO HUT
We will leave the glades of the rainforest and follow an ascending path on to the open moorlands then the Horombo encampment. We will witness the amazing views of Kibo and Mawenzi.Altitude: 2,700 m to 3,700 m

DAY 3: HOROMBO HUT TO KIBO HUT
The ascending continues, now we will pass the last watering point, walking onto the saddle of Kilimanjaro between the peaks of Kibo and Mawenzi where vegetation starts to disappear into the “moonscape”.Altitude: 3,700 m to 4,700 m

DAY 4 : KIBO HUT TO SUMMIT THEN HOROMBO HUT
Very early in the morning (midnight to 2am), commence the climb to the summit on steep and heavy scree or snow up to Gilman’s point located on the crater rim.Altitude: 4,700 m to 5,895 m

Distance Covered: 4 km up / 14 km down
Time to be used: 10 - 15 hrs

DAY 5: HOROMBO HUT TO MOSHI
After breakfast, a steady descent takes us down through moorland to the Mandara Hut. Continue descending through lush forest path to the National Park gate at Marangu. Altitude: 3,700 m to 1,700 m
