United Bank for Africa (Tanzania) Limited is a subsidiary of the United Bank for Africa Plc, headquartered in Lagos, Nigeria, one of Africa’s leading financial institutions offering universal banking to more than 8 million customers across more than 1 000 branches in 19 African countries and in New York, London and Paris.

UBA Tanzania opened its doors to the citizens of Tanzania in the year 2009, on the date of October 29th, after acquiring a license from the Bank of Tanzania to operate and conduct banking business in Tanzania. The bank started with the initial capital base of US $15,000,000 (fifteen million US dollars), which is far in excess of the Bank of Tanzania (BOT) requirement for a Tanzanian Banking License.

So far, UBA Tanzania has had its involvement in syndication of funds with TANESCO, TRA and other government bodies.

The Bank aims to change the way people bank in Tanzania by targeting the unbanked with flexible collection, remittance and payment solutions that come under electronic banking platform. UBA Tanzania has a pool of over 500,000 customers in personal, commercial and corporate market segments and ably supported by a team of more than 100 professional and skilled staff employed with the bank, drawn from diverse industry backgrounds and fields of experience.
