Simon - the owner of the company plus a former porter and then guide on the mountain - always replied very fast, detailed and informative to my many questions via email. Because we were traveling in East Africa and only decided to climb Kilimanjaro on short notice, his quick, welcoming and uncomplicated style was very helpful.
I had injured my knee a few days before. But Simon was very flexible and it was no problem at all to shift our scheduled departure day even the day before we left.
After being asked if that was ok, we (my wife and I) got teamed up with a great international group. The day before we left we were introduced to our three guides (Paul,Jamal & mchome) plus our cook (Dickson). They gave us a short briefing and checked our gear and supplied us with anything that was missing - which in our case was a lot. All of the gear we got from Trekking and safari adventure (poles, backpacks, camel backs, summit jacket, pants, hat, gloves, sleeping bags, etc.) was in very good condition and fulfilled its purpose to our fullest satisfaction.
What stood out for me in this trip - apart from the stunning scenery - was the groove of our crew! Paul - our head guide and also a former porter - knows exactly how demanding the work of the crew (porters, cook, guides) is and you can really tell that he wants the best for them as well as for his clients. It fulfilled me with great joy and relief to see that Paul (on our trip) and Simon (in general) take good care of their employees. Their former experience on the "lower end" of the crew definitely helps them being good and respectful leaders in what they do.
I would highly recommend booking your Kilimanjaro-trip with Trekking and safari adventures if your looking for a sincere, local, honest and fun company that will bring you safely to the top and back! :)
